Judge Murphy Aguilú ran for judge believing that the justice system needs to operate fairly for all persons -- and Today he is proud to serve as a judge, the office he sought through public trust.

Following many years of practicing law, governmental leadership and community service, he was appointed and then elected to serve as a cook county circuit judge.

Today, as Hon. James Murphy Aguilú, he continues to perform the tasks he promised the electorate during his judicial campaign:

• Treat each individual with dignity and respect

Prior to taking office as a judge, Mr. Murphy Aguilú developed a long history of working within both the legal field and in public service.

Among his previous professional experiences are:

• Criminal and civil attorney

• Governmental accountability/ oversight experience

• Inspector general

• Chief of staff to the clerk of the Circuit Court of cook county

• Advocate/mentor within the community

• Coaching youth and volunteering in local civic activities.
  
  All of these professional positions helped develop judge Murphy Aguilú's knowledge of how our legal system functions. They also provided him with sufficient education and training so that he could continue to serve the citizenry with fairness and thoughtfulness from the bench.

Mission Continues

Though his campaign may have ended, his mission does not. Judge Murphy Aguilú will continue to work towards increasing confidence in our judicial system and providing fair representation for the citizens of cook county every day.

His victory in his judicial election signified the start of a new era of public service. It was one designed around creating a justice system that utilizes fairness, professionalism and compassion.
